1. Technology overview
Mobileye is a driver assistance and autonomous driving technology company founded in 1999, with offices in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Detroit, Germany, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo. It pioneered camera-based ADAS, launched the EyeQ system-on-chip in 2007, was acquired by Intel in 2017 and became public again in 2022. More than 200 million EyeQ chips had shipped by 2025.
Its portfolio scales from Base ADAS with a single front camera for emergency braking, adaptive cruise and lane keeping, to Cloud-Enhanced ADAS using crowdsourced REM map data for centimetre-level localisation, and Surround ADAS on EyeQ6H fusing surround cameras and radars for hands-off highway assist up to 130 km/h. SuperVision, Chauffeur and Drive extend this to eyes-off and driverless systems. Automakers integrate the chips and software into vehicle programmes.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Base ADAS: single-camera AEB, ACC, intelligent speed assist, lane keep and highway assist.
- Cloud-Enhanced ADAS: REM crowdsourced maps for lane centring and hazard warnings.
- Surround ADAS: EyeQ6H with surround cameras and radars for hands-off driving up to 130 km/h.
- SuperVision and Chauffeur: hands-off and eyes-off driving systems for consumer vehicles.
- Mobileye Drive: driverless system for robotaxi and shared mobility services.
- EyeQ system-on-chip: purpose-built automotive processors for vision and driving policy.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese automakers and assemblers can integrate Base or Surround ADAS to meet NCAP and export requirements. Commercial vehicle and bus builders can add camera-based collision avoidance to new models. Mobility operators can evaluate Mobileye Drive for future driverless shuttle services.
4. Benefits
Automakers can choose a scalable path from regulation-driven safety features to hands-free and driverless systems on one technology family. Cloud-Enhanced ADAS adds lane centring on unmarked roads, traffic light relevancy and hazard warnings without extra hardware. Base ADAS is designed to comply with key regional regulatory standards, and the supplier has a long record across many global automakers.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Mandatory safety rules and NCAP ratings are making AEB, lane keeping and speed assist standard on new cars worldwide, and automakers are adding hands-off highway functions to mass-market models. In Southeast Asia, ASEAN NCAP and growing local assembly of EVs push manufacturers to source proven ADAS platforms at scale.
6. Other information
Founded in 1999, acquired by Intel in 2017 and public again in 2022. Shipped over 200 million EyeQ chips by 2025 and agreed to acquire Mentee Robotics in January 2026. Named Frost and Sullivan 2026 Company of the Year in passenger vehicle ADAS. Recent programmes include Stellantis, Mahindra and MOIA with Ruter and Holo.
