1. Technology overview

N-Drip is an Israeli agritech company whose gravity-powered micro-irrigation system is designed to replace flood irrigation, which the company says wastes nearly half of the water it uses. Its dripper was developed from research led by founder and CTO Prof. Uri Shani.

The proprietary dripper uses a multidimensional flow structure that works at about 0.06 bar of gravity pressure, so it needs no pumps, external energy or filtration and reuses existing flood infrastructure on levelled fields. N-Drip Connect adds a decision support layer: sensors measure soil and root water potential across the field, a model tracks available water and nitrogen, and a dashboard shows irrigation and fertilisation recommendations with NDVI views. N-Drip installs and operates the system and provides agronomy support.

2. Highlighted features & specifications

  • Gravity dripper: proprietary multidimensional flow dripper operating at about 0.06 bar.
  • No pumps or filters: runs without external energy or water filtration across water qualities.
  • Flood infrastructure reuse: installs on levelled fields using existing canals and inlets.
  • N-Drip Connect sensors: measure soil and root water potential without calibration.
  • Decision dashboard: irrigation and nitrogen recommendations, water potential history and NDVI maps.
  • Water replenishment offering: monitoring and verified savings for corporate water stewardship projects.

3. Potential application

  • Sugarcane and rice growers in Vietnam replacing flood irrigation without investing in pumps and filters.
  • Multinationals with Vietnamese operations funding water replenishment projects in farming areas near their plants.
  • Agricultural projects in drought and saline-affected Mekong provinces piloting low-energy drip for paddy.

4. Benefits

  • Large water savings versus flooding; a 2025 rice pilot in Taiwan reported 57% water savings and over 80% lower methane.
  • No pumps, energy or filters, lowering operating costs on flood-irrigated land.
  • Yield gains reported by growers, including a 5.4% rice yield increase in the Taiwan pilot.
  • Typical return on investment within one year on average, according to the company.

6. Other information

Israeli company founded on research by Prof. Uri Shani, with team roles covering Asia Pacific and North America. Grower testimonials come from the USA, Australia, India and eSwatini. In 2025 it ran a Google-funded rice drip pilot in Changhua, Taiwan; IRRI is named as a possible partner for scaling.
