1. Technology overview
OneConnect is the financial technology company of China's Ping An Group and the group's exclusive fintech export arm. Listed on the NYSE and HKEX, it began its international strategy in 2018 with Singapore as its Southeast Asia regional headquarters and R&D hub, and serves banks and insurers that need to digitise core operations, lending and customer service.
Its Digital Core Banking platform manages account opening, savings deposits, lending, payment services and customer information, and is designed for up to 10,000 transactions per second and 1 billion transactions per day. It is complemented by digital retail and credit solutions, smart risk control and lending, and the Gamma platform for voice, vision, identity verification and open data. Overseas, OneConnect works under a build-operate-transfer model with knowledge transfer.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Digital core banking: Runs accounts, deposits, loans, payments and customer data at high throughput.
- Digital credit: Provides smart due diligence, smart risk control and smart lending systems.
- Digital retail: Supports marketing, wealth and relationship manager tools for retail banking.
- Smart voice: Automates customer service, collections and marketing calls with robots.
- Smart vision: Verifies identity and reviews faces and documents with computer vision.
- Build-operate-transfer: Delivers systems with full-cycle knowledge transfer to local teams.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese bank could rebuild its core to support high-volume digital transactions. A bank's subsidiary could launch on a shared modern core, as GPBank does with VPBank. A consumer lender could add AI voice robots for collections and smart risk control.
4. Benefits
Banks get a core designed for 10,000 transactions per second and 1 billion transactions per day, which shortens the time to launch digital products such as phone-based account opening and online loans. The build-operate-transfer model lets local teams take over operations. OneConnect reports 68 certifications and 342 awards as of December 2025.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Vietnamese banks expect transaction volumes to keep rising with instant payments and app-based banking, and several are rebuilding their cores for higher throughput. Asian vendors that combine core banking with AI risk and service tools are competing with Western incumbents in these projects.
6. Other information
Part of Ping An Group, with offices in Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and listed on the NYSE (OCFT) and HKEX (06638). Operates in more than 20 countries and territories with over 200 overseas financial institution clients.
