1. Technology overview
Ottonomy was founded in 2020 by Ritukar Vijay, Hardik Sharma, Pradyot Korupolu and Ashish Gupta and is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, with most of its 60-plus staff in India's Delhi NCR and production in Noida. It builds autonomous delivery robots for hospitals, industrial campuses, airports and parcel last-mile logistics.
The Ottobot family (Ottobot 2.0, M, V and X) offers Level 4 indoor-outdoor autonomy and modular cabins. A Contextual AI behaviour layer built on high-information maps recognises the environment type and adjusts speed, yielding and routing, and can navigate without GPS. V2X integration lets robots operate elevators and access doors, while Ottumn.AI, a cloud orchestration platform, coordinates robots and building infrastructure and connects to existing robots via APIs.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Level 4 autonomy: Ottobots drive indoors and outdoors across hospitals, campuses and airports.
- Contextual AI: adapts speed, yielding and routing to each environment and works without GPS.
- Modular cabins: configurable compartments for samples, pharmacy items, parcels, meals and spare parts.
- V2X integration: robots call elevators and open access-controlled doors.
- Ottumn.AI orchestration: cloud platform that unifies robots and smart infrastructure, with APIs for existing fleets.
- RaaS delivery: subscription contracts bundling hardware, software, fleet management and support.
3. Potential application
Hospitals in Vietnam could deploy Ottobots to carry lab samples and pharmacy orders between buildings. Electronics and pharmaceutical factories on large campuses could move spare parts, tools and documents between workshops. Airports and university campuses could offer robot delivery of food and parcels.
4. Benefits
Ottonomy says its hospital deployments aim to free up the 40% of nursing time now spent on non-clinical tasks such as moving lab samples, medications and linens. Robots-as-a-service contracts of one to five years cover hardware, software, orchestration and support with no upfront capital. Elevator and door integration enables end-to-end delivery without staff escorts.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Hospitals and large campuses are automating internal logistics to cope with staff shortages, and last-mile costs remain a large share of shipping costs. Subscription models lower the entry barrier. In Vietnam, new private hospitals, large manufacturing campuses and airport expansions create sites where indoor-outdoor delivery robots could move samples, parts and meals.
