1. Technology overview
Vietnam Credit Information JSC (PCB) was established in Hanoi in November 2007 by 11 Vietnamese commercial banks with support from the International Finance Corporation. It operates as a private credit information provider certified by the State Bank of Vietnam, giving lenders a shared view of borrower credit history to speed up underwriting and reduce bad debt.
Member banks and finance companies contribute credit data and query credit reports around the clock. On top of the core credit report, PCB offers a credit bureau score, a no-hit score for thin-file customers, specialised BOSS Scores and pre-approval services, anti-fraud tools that search for links across loan files, skip tracing for collection, portfolio management, market insight and collection reports. Its technology was built with CRIF, and individuals can check their own reports through the ID365 service.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Credit report: Delivers consolidated borrower credit information to member institutions.
- Credit bureau score: Provides a standardised measure of borrower risk.
- No-hit score: Assesses customers with thin or outdated credit files.
- BOSS Scores and Pre-Approval: Adds specialised scores and pre-approval services launched in 2025.
- Anti-fraud solution: Searches for links across applications to detect fraudulent loan files.
- Skip tracing and portfolio reports: Supports collection and portfolio monitoring.
3. Potential application
A consumer finance company can use pre-approval and scores to pre-qualify customers before marketing loans. A digital bank can score thin-file applicants with the no-hit score. A collection team can locate borrowers through skip tracing and monitor portfolio health monthly.
4. Benefits
Lenders get consolidated borrower information in a single report available 24/7, which shortens credit appraisal. The no-hit score helps assess customers with little or old credit history, widening the addressable market. Anti-fraud link analysis flags suspicious loan files before disbursement, and skip tracing and collection reports support debt recovery.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Digital lending and consumer finance in Vietnam are growing quickly while many borrowers still have thin credit files, and fraud in loan applications is rising. Lenders are therefore combining bureau data, alternative scores and fraud checks earlier in the funnel to approve good customers faster.
