1. Technology overview
PUFsecurity is a Taiwanese hardware security IP company and a subsidiary of eMemory, the non-volatile memory IP provider. It gives chip designers a silicon root of trust based on physically unclonable functions (PUF), so each chip has a unique, hard-to-extract identity and key storage without relying on external secure elements.
Its portfolio includes PUFrt, a root of trust combining PUF, secure OTP, a true random number generator and anti-tamper protection; PUFcc and PUFcc7 crypto coprocessors, the latter with TLS 1.3 support; PUFhsm, an EVITA-Full hardware security module for automotive; secure OTP and flash protection IP; and a PUF-based post-quantum cryptography (PQC) architecture launched in 2025. Partners and users include Silicon Labs, Arm, Ambiq, Himax, Kudelski IoT, UMC and Intel Foundry.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- PUFrt: hardware root of trust with PUF, secure OTP, TRNG and anti-tamper.
- PUFcc and PUFcc7: PUF-based crypto coprocessors, with TLS 1.3 support in PUFcc7.
- PUFhsm: EVITA-Full compliant hardware security module pre-integrated with a CPU.
- PUF-PQC: post-quantum cryptography architecture with NIST-certified algorithms.
- Secure storage: secure OTP, flash protection and embedded flash protection IP.
- Certification support: PSA Certified Level 3 and SESIP for PUFcc, PSA Level 4 with PUFrt.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese IoT chip designer can integrate PUFrt to give each device a unique identity for secure cloud onboarding. A smart meter or payment terminal SoC can use PUFcc7 for TLS 1.3 acceleration. An automotive electronics team can evaluate PUFhsm for an EVITA-Full compliant controller.
4. Benefits
A PUF-based root of trust gives each chip a unique identity without injecting keys during manufacturing. Pre-certified IP helps customers reach PSA Certified and SESIP levels faster, as shown by Silicon Labs reaching PSA Certified Level 4. PQC support prepares devices for quantum-resistant cryptography requirements. EVITA-Full HSM IP supports automotive security designs.
5. Market trends & opportunities
New IoT and cyber resilience regulations in Europe, the US and Asia require stronger device identity and secure updates, pushing security into the chip itself. Post-quantum cryptography migration is starting at the hardware level. Chip designers and IoT device makers in Vietnam that export to regulated markets need certified security IP.
6. Other information
Subsidiary of eMemory Technology (Taiwan). Launched a PUF-based PQC solution with eMemory in March 2025, obtained NIST CAVP certification for PQC algorithms in July 2025, and formed an OTA security alliance with Carota in August 2025. Partners include Silicon Labs, Kudelski IoT, Arm, UMC and Intel Foundry.
