1. Technology overview
RoboSense Technology Co., Ltd is a LiDAR and physical AI company founded in August 2014 and headquartered in Shenzhen, China, with offices in Shanghai, Suzhou, Hong Kong, Munich, Detroit and Silicon Valley and more than 1,800 employees. Listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (2498.HK) since January 2024, it delivered its one millionth automotive LiDAR in June 2025.
For ADAS and autonomous driving it offers digital LiDARs built on in-house SPAD-SoC and VCSEL chips. The EM4 delivers up to 2,160 beams, 600 m maximum range, a 120 x 27 degree field of view and 41 million points per second for L3 and higher systems, with about 60% data compression for in-vehicle Ethernet. EMX and the solid-state E1 cover mainstream and blind-spot needs. Customers include FAW Toyota, Dongfeng Nissan, GWM, SAIC Audi, Zeekr and robotaxi developers.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- EM4: up to 2,160-beam digital LiDAR with 600 m maximum range for L3 and above.
- SPAD-SoC and VCSEL chips: in-house digital architecture with a 1,080-core echo processing system.
- Data compression: about 60% reduction to fit in-vehicle Ethernet bandwidth.
- EMX and E1: automotive LiDARs for mainstream ADAS and solid-state blind-spot coverage.
- Robotics range: E1R, Airy and Fairy LiDARs for robots and autonomous delivery.
- Active Camera: AC1 and AC2 combining LiDAR and camera data for physical AI.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese EV makers can source automotive LiDAR for L2+ and L3 features on upcoming models. Autonomous delivery and warehouse robot developers in Vietnam can use the robotics LiDAR range. Smart traffic projects can deploy LiDAR for roadside perception at intersections.
4. Benefits
Automakers get LiDAR backed by a full set of automotive certifications, including ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, IATF 16949 and ASPICE CL2, which shortens supplier qualification. In-house chips and a 48,000 square metre manufacturing base with 95% automation support high-volume programmes. EM4's data compression lets long-range, high-resolution sensing run over existing in-vehicle Ethernet.
5. Market trends & opportunities
LiDAR adoption in passenger cars is accelerating as automakers add urban navigation assistance and prepare L3 systems, while unit prices fall with digital chip architectures. Joint-venture brands of Toyota and Nissan and Chinese EV makers are adding lidar to new models, several of which are also sold in Southeast Asia, and robotics and delivery fleets create a second demand stream.
6. Other information
Founded in August 2014 and headquartered in Shenzhen; listed on HKEX (2498.HK) in January 2024. BYD, SAIC, Cainiao and BAIC are strategic investors or partners. Sold 303,000 robotics LiDARs in 2025 and received a 2025 Gold Edison Award. Holds ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, IATF 16949 and ASPICE CL2.
