1. Technology overview
SI Analytics was founded in July 2018 in Daejeon, South Korea, as a spin-off of satellite maker Satrec Initiative. It builds AI for geospatial intelligence, detecting and tracking changes in key features over wide areas from satellite imagery, because human analysts cannot keep up with the growing volume of images.
SuperX, developed in 2023, is an AI model that enhances low-resolution satellite images, roughly doubling effective resolution. It works with imagery from satellites of different resolutions such as KOMPSAT (Arirang), WorldView and SkySat and can be applied outside urban areas. The company also offers OVISION Earth, a GeoAI platform for disaster, environment, energy and food analysis, OVISION Intelligence for defence monitoring and nK Insight reports. Users include Korean defence and space agencies and satellite data partners.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- SuperX: AI super-resolution that doubles effective image resolution.
- Multi-sensor support: imagery from KOMPSAT, WorldView, SkySat and other satellites.
- OVISION Earth: GeoAI platform for disaster, environment, energy and food analysis.
- OVISION Intelligence: near-real-time AI monitoring of strategic sites.
- Change detection: tracks key terrain features over wide areas and time.
- Global Partnership Program: paid partner model for distributing SuperX outputs.
3. Potential application
- Mapping and GIS companies in Vietnam sharpening medium-resolution imagery for land and infrastructure inventories.
- Imagery resellers offering enhanced products to local customers.
- Disaster agencies detecting building damage over wide areas after storms.
4. Benefits
- Roughly 2x sharper imagery from existing lower-cost satellite data, reducing the need for premium very-high-resolution purchases.
- Works across several satellite sources, including KOMPSAT, WorldView and SkySat.
- NVIDIA reports that SI Analytics software cut one analysis task from 40 minutes to about 3 minutes.
- Partner programme lets imagery distributors offer enhanced products.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Very-high-resolution imagery remains costly, while AI enhancement and automated analysis can extract more value from medium-resolution data. Southeast Asian agencies and companies with limited imagery budgets increasingly look for such tools for mapping, infrastructure and disaster work.
6. Other information
Founded in July 2018 as a Satrec Initiative spin-off; main office in Daejeon, with a Seoul office. Series A (2019) and Series B (2021) funding. Strategic partnership with Maxar (2023); OVISION holds Korea's GS software certification. Named to Forbes Korea AI 50 (2025) and signed an MoU with the UAE's MBRSC (2025).
