1. Technology overview
SixSense is a Singapore-based AI company founded in 2018 by engineers Akanksha Jagwani and Avni Agrawal. It builds software for semiconductor fabs and OSATs to automate defect inspection and find the root causes of yield loss.
The platform has three products. AI-ADC classifies suspected defects from inspection images in real time and works with AOI tools from different vendors. Lot Disposition and Root-Cause Analysis recommends pass, hold, rework or scrap for each lot and correlates defects with tool, recipe and chamber data. Predict AI forecasts where and when to inspect. Users include GlobalFoundries and JCET.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- AI-ADC: classifies defects from inspection images in real time.
- Model lifecycle tools: support training, deployment and maintenance of models by engineers.
- Lot disposition: recommends pass, hold, rework or scrap per lot and flags high-risk wafers.
- Root-cause analysis: AI agents correlate defects with tool, recipe and chamber data.
- Predict AI: forecasts when, where and what to inspect and adjusts sampling.
- Multi-vendor AOI support: works across inspection tools from different suppliers.
3. Potential application
An OSAT plant in Bac Ninh or Ho Chi Minh City can automate review of AOI images to cut manual inspection. A semiconductor packaging line can use lot disposition to decide faster on rework or scrap. Yield engineers can trace defect spikes to specific tools or recipes.
4. Benefits
The company reports a 30% improvement in cycle time, about 1% higher yield, 12% fewer quality issues and a 90% reduction in man-machine ratio for inspection work. Defect classification accuracy is stated at over 99%. Hundreds of millions of images per year can be classified automatically.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Fab and OSAT investment is growing across Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam, and Vietnam is expanding chip assembly and testing capacity. Manual review of inspection images does not scale with these volumes, which drives demand for AI defect classification and yield analytics.
6. Other information
Founded in Singapore in 2018. In July 2025 SixSense raised an 8.5 million USD Series A led by Peak XV's Surge with Alpha Intelligence Capital and FEBE, bringing total funding to about 12 million USD. It works with fabs in Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Israel, lists a US office in San Francisco and is ISO 27001 certified.
