1. Technology overview
Solinas Integrity Private Limited is an IIT Madras-incubated Indian company working since 2018 on robotics and AI for underground water and sanitation infrastructure. It tackles two problems: non-revenue water from leaking, ageing pipelines that are hard to inspect without digging, and dangerous manual entry into sewers and septic tanks. It took part in Imagine H2O Asia's fourth cohort.
Endobot is a series of pipeline crawlers for water, sewer, stormwater and industrial lines from about 90 mm to 2,100 mm, using HD cameras, laser profiling and IMU motion tracking to pinpoint defects, leaks, blockages, illegal connections and contamination points. Homosep robots clean sewers, manholes and septic tanks with blade cleaning, desilting and suction so workers no longer enter them. Swasth AI is a cloud platform that maps inspection data in GIS, geo-tags findings, detects defects with AI and generates reports. Customers include Chennai Metrowater, BWSSB in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, municipal corporations such as Lucknow, and partners Veolia and SUEZ.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Endobot crawlers: Endo90, Endo120, Endo250, Endo600 and EndoRaft models for pipes from about 90 mm to 2,100 mm.
- Multi-sensor inspection: HD cameras, laser profiling and IMU tracking to measure and locate defects.
- Leak and contamination checks: pinpoints leaks, blockages, illegal connections and contamination points.
- Homosep cleaning robot: blade cleaning, desilting and suction for sewers, manholes and septic tanks.
- Swasth AI platform: cloud GIS mapping, geo-tagging, AI defect detection and automated reports.
- Inspection services: water, sewer, stormwater, industrial, HVAC and fire hydrant pipeline surveys.
3. Potential application
Water supply companies in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City can deploy Endobot crawlers on old mains to locate leaks before repair, reducing road excavation. Urban drainage companies can use Homosep robots for manhole and sewer desilting ahead of the rainy season. Industrial parks can inspect internal water and wastewater networks and map defects in Swasth AI.
4. Benefits
Utilities can locate leaks and defects from inside the pipe and repair them without open-cut digging; in Bengaluru robots helped avoid road digging at 399 locations. Removing manual entry into sewers and septic tanks addresses a serious worker safety issue. GIS-mapped, geo-tagged inspection data and AI defect detection support prioritised rehabilitation and non-revenue water reduction.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Cities across South and Southeast Asia lose a large share of treated water through ageing pipes, while open-cut excavation is costly and disruptive in dense urban areas. Robotic in-pipe inspection, trenchless repair and AI-based condition assessment are gaining adoption, alongside policy pressure to end hazardous manual sewer cleaning.
6. Other information
