1. Technology overview
Tanso Technologies GmbH was founded in Munich in 2021 by Till Wiechmann, Lorenz Hetzel and Gyri Reiersen to provide carbon accounting for industrial companies. It now has offices in Munich and Berlin, more than 70 staff and over 700 industrial customers in automotive, machinery, electronics, chemicals, pharma and food, with users in more than 40 countries.
The platform calculates corporate and product carbon footprints according to the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 and ISO 14067, with a methodology certified by TUV Rheinland and more than 35,000 product footprints calculated. ESG reporting modules cover CSRD/ESRS, VSME, the EU Taxonomy, double materiality and questionnaires such as EcoVadis. Supply chain modules include a supplier portal, CBAM reporting with cost simulation and the EU packaging regulation PPWR. Tanso KI adds AI agents for emission factor mapping, document extraction, report drafting and data quality. Connectors cover SAP, Proalpha, DATEV, Siemens PLM and Power BI.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Corporate carbon footprint: GHG Protocol and ISO 14064 accounting with reduction planning.
- Product carbon footprint: ISO 14067 PCFs with a TUV Rheinland-certified method.
- ESG reporting: CSRD/ESRS, VSME, EU Taxonomy and double materiality modules.
- CBAM software: automatic goods classification, emissions by CN code and cost simulation.
- Supplier portal: collects primary emissions data without supplier registration.
- Tanso KI: AI agents for factor mapping, document extraction, questionnaires and report drafting.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese mechanical parts supplier to German machine builders can calculate ISO 14067 product footprints for its customers. A metal products exporter can prepare emissions data per CN code for EU importers under CBAM. A European-owned factory in Vietnam can feed site data into the group's CSRD report.
4. Benefits
A TUV Rheinland-certified methodology gives product and corporate footprints credibility with customers and auditors. The CBAM module classifies goods and origin countries automatically from ERP data and simulates cost scenarios when import volumes or countries change. Suppliers can submit primary data through a portal without registering, and one dataset feeds CSRD, CBAM and customer questionnaires.
5. Market trends & opportunities
European industrial buyers increasingly require certified product carbon footprints and CBAM-ready data from their suppliers, including manufacturers in Asia. Vietnamese mechanical, electronics and metal exporters to Germany and the wider EU are among those asked to provide this data.
6. Other information
