1. Technology overview
TextileGenesis was founded in 2018 as a SaaS traceability platform for fashion brands and sustainable textile manufacturers, and is now a Lectra company within the French group's traceability portfolio. It addresses the lack of visibility beyond tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers and the risk of over-claiming sustainable materials.
The platform traces textiles, leather and footwear from fibre to retail across five to six supplier tiers. Its Fibercoin tokens act as digital twins of physical material flows, so certified volumes cannot be double-counted. Additional modules cover supply chain mapping based on tier 1 declarations, backward discovery for conventional materials and AI-based compliance risk alerts. OEKO-TEX selected it in 2026 to digitise transaction certificates for organic cotton.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Fibercoin tokens: Digital tokens mirror each physical shipment of certified material.
- Fibre-to-retail tracing: Material flows are tracked across five to six supplier tiers.
- Supply chain mapping: Tier 1 suppliers declare their upstream supply chain data.
- Supply chain discovery: Conventional materials are traced backward through intermediate suppliers.
- Risk management: An AI module flags compliance risks automatically.
- Data sharing: Traceability data feeds LCA tools and digital product passports.
3. Potential application
Vietnamese spinning mills can record certified organic or recycled fibre shipments as Fibercoins for brand customers. Garment factories can declare upstream suppliers through supply chain mapping. Exporters can prepare traceability data for upcoming textile passport requirements.
4. Benefits
Token-based tracking prevents double counting of certified sustainable fibres. Brands gain visibility down to fibre producers instead of stopping at tier 1 or 2. Digital transaction certificates replace paper and PDF documents, reducing administrative work for ginners, spinners and manufacturers. Collected data feeds life cycle assessments and digital product passports.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Fashion brands face EU rules on green claims and digital product passports and US forced labour enforcement, so they require verified fibre-level data from suppliers. Vietnam's garment, yarn and footwear industry is deeply embedded in these brands' supply chains and increasingly asked to record material flows on brand-selected platforms.
6. Other information
TextileGenesis was founded in 2018; Lectra acquired a 51% stake in early 2023, with the remaining capital to be acquired in later stages, and it now operates as a Lectra company. In February 2026 OEKO-TEX selected TextileGenesis to digitise transaction certificates for OEKO-TEX ORGANIC COTTON.
