1. Technology overview
TPiCS Laboratory is a Tokyo software company founded in 1984 that has developed the TPiCS production management series since 1986. It targets manufacturers that struggle with forecast errors, unstable delivery and frequent specification changes. A Vietnamese version was released in 2012, alongside Japanese, English and Chinese versions, and the vendor lists overseas factories and system integrators in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and other countries.
TPiCS-X covers repetitive mass production with fMRP, high-mix low-volume production managed by production number, and one-off project work in one system. Users add fields, tabs, dropdowns and buttons without programming, print work orders, purchase orders and shipping documents from Excel templates, and exchange plans, actuals and orders with other systems through CSV. Version 5.2 was released in May 2026.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- fMRP planning: plans repetitive production while absorbing demand fluctuations.
- Production-number control: manages high-mix, low-volume and made-to-order jobs.
- No-code customisation: adds user fields, tabs, required inputs, defaults and dropdowns.
- Excel templates: prints work orders, purchase orders, subcontracting requests and shipping documents.
- CSV data exchange: two-way exchange of plans, actuals, orders and shipments with other systems.
- Multilingual interface: Japanese, English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese.
3. Potential application
A Japanese-invested precision parts plant in Vietnam can run MRP and work orders in Vietnamese while sharing data with its parent company. A Vietnamese mould or machining shop can manage made-to-order jobs by production number. An electronics assembler can exchange forecasts and shipments with customers through CSV.
4. Benefits
One package handles repetitive, high-mix and one-off production, so plants with mixed product types avoid running separate systems. No-code customisation of fields and screens keeps implementation cost and time low for small and mid-sized factories. With 2,140 client companies and a Vietnamese user interface, Japanese-invested plants in Vietnam can run the same system as their parent factories with local staff.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Many Japanese small and mid-sized suppliers have moved production to Vietnam and need production planning that works in Vietnamese for local staff while matching head-office practice. Packaged, configurable production management is a common alternative to custom-built systems for these plants.
6. Other information
Founded on 15 October 1984 as Toyoko Business Computer and renamed in 1992; based in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. TPiCS-X was first released in 1999, the Vietnamese version in 2012, and version 5.2 in May 2026. The vendor reports 2,140 client companies and 17,246 seats as of 30 September 2026, and a subscription price revision took effect in June 2026.
