1. Technology overview
Jinan USR IOT Technology (PUSR) is a Chinese industrial IoT hardware maker founded in 2008 and renamed in 2012, with more than 600 staff, over 200 of them in R&D, factories in Jinan and Suzhou, and overseas agencies in countries including Singapore, Indonesia and Australia. It helps companies connect serial and Ethernet equipment to cloud platforms at low cost.
The flagship USR-M300 is a modular edge computing gateway with a dual-core processor up to 1.2 GHz running Linux, LTE Cat4, RS232/485 ports and built-in DI, DO and AI channels. It collects up to 2,000 data points, converts Modbus RTU/TCP to MQTT or TCP, supports Node-RED low-code logic and reports to PUSR Cloud, AWS, Alibaba Cloud, Azure or ThingsBoard. The range also covers the USR-N720 edge gateway, 5G and LTE industrial routers and the EG628 Arm computer. PUSR Cloud manages remote networking, gateways and SIM cards for factories, energy, agriculture and vehicle projects.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- USR-M300 edge gateway: dual-core Linux processor, LTE Cat4 and up to 2,000 collection points.
- Built-in I/O: 2 digital inputs, 2 relay outputs and 2 analog 4-20 mA inputs with modular expansion.
- Protocol conversion: Modbus RTU/TCP to MQTT, TCP and HTTP with SNMP and NTP.
- Node-RED programming: low-code edge logic with third-party node libraries.
- Network security: firewall, static routing and PPTP, L2TP and OpenVPN VPN.
- PUSR Cloud: remote networking, gateway management and SIM card management.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese industrial park can read Modbus power meters across tenants and push consumption data to a cloud dashboard through USR-M300 gateways. A farm or aquaculture operator can monitor pumps and water sensors with built-in analog inputs over LTE. A machine shop can collect run, stop and alarm signals for basic OEE reporting.
4. Benefits
One device replaces separate serial servers, I/O modules and cellular routers, collecting up to 2,000 points and handling local alarm and linkage control. Node-RED lets technicians build edge logic without writing firmware. Standard MQTT support works with common platforms such as AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud and ThingsBoard, avoiding vendor lock-in. PUSR reports that its industrial gateways have ranked first in China by online sales for seven consecutive years, citing Frost & Sullivan.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Small and mid-sized factories want affordable ways to digitize existing machines and meters instead of replacing them. Low-code tools like Node-RED and standard MQTT are lowering the skill barrier for IIoT projects. In Vietnam and Southeast Asia, many plants run Modbus-based equipment and need cost-effective gateways for energy monitoring and OEE tracking.
6. Other information
PUSR was founded in 2008 and renamed Jinan PUSR IoT Technology in 2012. It completed A, B and C financing rounds totaling USD 28 million, was named a national 'Little Giant' enterprise in 2021, holds 14 invention patents and implements ISO 9001. Its factories cite ISO 45001 and IATF 16949, and a device gained EN 18031 cybersecurity certification.
