1. Technology overview
Vehant Technologies is an AI and machine learning company incubated at IIT Delhi in 2005 and headquartered in Noida, India. It builds physical security, surveillance, traffic monitoring and junction enforcement systems, including under-vehicle scanners and baggage X-ray, for police, smart cities, defence, airports, metros and enterprises.
OKEAN TrafficMon is its suite for traffic law enforcement and monitoring. Deep learning models run on live camera feeds to detect red light jumping, over-speeding, riding without a helmet, triple riding, wrong-way or wrong-lane driving, phone use, illegal parking and missing seat belts, and pair each event with plate recognition and timestamped evidence. Related modules cover automatic traffic count and classification, radar and video speed enforcement, incident detection, accident reporting, multi-lane free-flow tolling and a traffic management control system. Violations flow to state or city e-challan platforms and command centre dashboards.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Violation detection: Flags red light, speeding, no helmet, triple riding, wrong way, phone use and no seat belt.
- ANPR: Reads number plates and links them to each violation.
- Traffic count and classification: Counts and classifies vehicles to monitor traffic flow.
- Speed enforcement: Measures speed with radar or video.
- Incident detection: Detects road incidents and supports accident reporting.
- E-challan integration: Sends violations to state or city e-challan platforms and command centres.
3. Potential application
Provincial traffic police in Vietnam can detect helmet, red light and wrong-way violations at busy junctions and send them to the camera-based fine system. Expressway operators can count and classify vehicles and detect incidents. Industrial parks and ports can enforce speed and parking rules on internal roads.
4. Benefits
Vehant reports 10,000 traffic lanes monitored and more than 40 million vehicles mapped. Automated detection with plate-linked evidence replaces manual roadside checks and supports e-challan issuance around the clock. Systems work with existing ANPR cameras and can be rolled out in phases across multiple locations from central dashboards.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Cities with dense two-wheeler traffic are adopting AI cameras to enforce helmet, red light and lane rules without more police on the street. Vietnam expanded camera-based fines and AI traffic cameras in major cities in 2025, and expressways are moving toward free-flow tolling and automated incident detection.
6. Other information
Incubated at IIT Delhi in 2005, headquartered at Sector 59, Noida, India, and marked its 21st anniversary in August 2026. Customers named include Hyderabad Police, Gurugram Police, the Lucknow, Raipur, Prayagraj and Ranchi smart cities, the Telangana State Command Control Centre, Indian Railways and Kolkata Metro. Also makes NuvoScan under-vehicle scanners and KritiScan baggage scanners.
