1. Technology overview
Visionairy is a company founded in 2018 by Daniel Blengino (CEO) and Yannis Kolodziej (CTO), who met at the Institut d'Optique. Its site is offered in English and French and describes the company as profitable and independent. It supplies AI visual inspection for manufacturing, built on patented unsupervised technology from CNRS and ENS Paris-Saclay.
The end-to-end offer combines an industrial PC with on-edge software, an AI platform and centralised analytics. The GLAD anomaly detection model trains on as few as 50 good images, and further modules cover defect classification and sorting, object detection and text and marking verification. Customers named include FORVIA, Siemens, Lactalis, Krys Group and Sonepar, with deployments in 8 countries.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Anomaly detection: the patented GLAD model learns from a small set of OK images.
- Defect classification and sorting: categorises defect types for sorting decisions.
- Object detection: locates and counts parts or foreign objects.
- Text and marking verification: checks printed codes and markings.
- Edge deployment: an industrial PC returns pass/fail results in milliseconds.
- Analytics and traceability: centralised dashboards with per-part records.
3. Potential application
Foreign object and packaging inspection in food and dairy plants in Vietnam. Scratch and defect detection on electronic parts at assembly plants. Sorting-line monitoring in recycling and waste treatment facilities.
4. Benefits
Training on good images only avoids collecting defect samples. Per-part traceability stores timestamp, image and result. Explainable AI shows what triggered each decision. Models and configurations transfer across plants. The site cites 99%+ accuracy and 50 ms per part (vendor claims). A free vision study gives a feasibility report.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Factories are moving from rule-based machine vision to AI that needs few reference images and no vision expert. Food, electronics and recycling plants also need audit-ready traceability. Vietnamese food exporters and electronics assemblers face similar quality and certification pressure.
6. Other information
Founded in 2018 by Daniel Blengino and Yannis Kolodziej. Won the FEA Aerosol Startup Award in 2024. Supported by BPI France i-Nov, Reseau Entreprendre and Wilco accelerator. Research partners include CNRS, ENS Paris-Saclay and Institut d'Optique.
