1. Technology overview
MULTIVAC Group is a family business from the Allgäu region in southern Germany, with over 80 subsidiaries and a presence in 165 countries according to its website. It supplies packaging and processing solutions for food, medical, pharmaceutical and industrial goods, including thermoforming machines, traysealers, slicers, inspection systems and labelling.
The AI-supported traysealer line, presented at interpack 2026, uses AI-controlled product identification to tell which product is in each tray, then prints and applies the matching label with an L 310 labelling and inspection system. In the demonstration, a TX 720 traysealer packs chicken drumsticks and wings in parallel, and a new CloseCut die seals trays side by side to save film.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- AI product identification: AI-controlled recognition of the product in each pack.
- Print and apply labelling: prints and applies the matching label to each tray.
- L 310 labelling and inspection: AI-supported check of pack contents and labels.
- TX 720 traysealer: fed in parallel from two streams of identical trays.
- CloseCut die: seals trays directly next to each other without cutting film between them.
- Stacking units: separate and stack trays by product after sealing.
3. Potential application
Chicken processing plants can pack drumsticks and wings on one traysealer and label each tray automatically. Ready-meal and prepared-food factories can run several recipes through one line. Seafood and pork packers can cut film cost with side-by-side tray sealing.
4. Benefits
AI product identification keeps traysealer capacity fully used when running several products in parallel. The CloseCut die saves up to 30 percent of film trim and cost, according to the product manager quoted in the release. Automatic matching of labels to products supports labelling accuracy. The concept can scale to more infeed and pack streams.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Poultry, meat and ready-meal producers run more product variants on shared lines and face pressure to cut packaging film and labor. AI-supported identification and labelling is being introduced to keep lines flexible. Vietnamese chicken, pork and seafood processors can apply the same approach in tray packaging.
6. Other information
MULTIVAC Group's website lists country sites for Vietnam, Singapore and Thailand. The traysealer line press release is dated 14 April 2026 and the line was shown at interpack 2026 (Hall 5, Stand A23). A new company headquarters is under construction, per a July 2026 news item.
