1. Technology overview
ASPEED Technology Inc. is a Taiwanese fabless IC-design company founded in 2004 and headquartered in Hsinchu, listed on the Taipei Exchange under ticker 5274. It was established to design the baseboard management controller (BMC) chips that let data-center operators remotely monitor, control and repair servers without needing physical access to the hardware.
ASPEED’s main product lines are its remote server-management SoCs, including the AST2600 and newest 12nm AST2700 generation built around embedded ARM cores, plus PC/AV extension SoCs and Cupola360 image-processing SoCs. Chips are sold to server, motherboard and networking-equipment makers building products for cloud and enterprise data centers.
