1. Technology overview
CMBlu Energy is a German long-duration energy storage company founded in 2014 and headquartered in Alzenau, Germany. It develops organic flow battery technology as a non-lithium alternative for grid stabilization, aimed at customers that need safe, cost-effective storage able to discharge for ten or more hours.
Its SolidFlow batteries use a water-based organic electrolyte in a modular, stackable architecture that can be scaled from commercial sites to multi-megawatt grid projects. CMBlu has signed a framework agreement with utility Uniper for large-scale SolidFlow battery storage and counts WEC Energy Group and Burgenland Energie among its industrial and utility partners.
