1. Technology overview
DyeCoo was founded in 2008 and is known for patented supercritical CO2 dyeing systems that remove water and process chemicals from textile dyeing. Since 2026 its technology, know-how and future development sit within VDL KTI, an industrial engineering company based in Mol, Belgium, which has collaborated with DyeCoo for many years.
Instead of water, the DyeOx machine uses reclaimed CO2 in a closed loop. Under pressure the CO2 becomes supercritical, dissolves pure dyes and carries them deep into the fibres, after which about 95% of the CO2 is recycled. The machine has three dye vessels of 20 to 200 kg each, runs three colours in parallel and handles beam dyeing of woven fabric, jersey and yarn. Users include brands such as Nike, IKEA and Adidas and dyehouses in Asia.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Supercritical CO2 dyeing: pressurised CO2 replaces water as the dye carrier.
- Closed loop: about 95% of the CO2 is recovered and reused after every batch.
- Three-vessel DyeOx: three vessels of 20 to 200 kg each run three colours in parallel.
- Beam dyeing: suitable for woven fabric, jersey and yarn.
- Pure dyes: no additives, process chemicals or reduction cleaning, with over 98% dye uptake.
- Industrial safety: CO2 separator, high-pressure valves, CO2 detection, built to ASME and certified by Veritas and Lloyd's.
3. Potential application
Dyehouses in Vietnamese industrial parks can install DyeOx lines for polyester sportswear fabric to serve brands that demand water-free processes. Yarn producers can colour polyester yarn without effluent, easing environmental permits. Textile groups expanding capacity in areas with strict discharge limits can use CO2 dyeing to avoid building large wastewater treatment plants.
4. Benefits
The process uses zero water and produces no wastewater, so dyehouses need no effluent treatment for dyeing. No process chemicals or reduction cleaning are required, dye uptake exceeds 98% and about 95% of the CO2 is recycled after each batch. A DyeOx line processes about 4,000 kg per day with quick colour changes and batch-to-batch repeatability.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Dyeing and finishing are the most water- and chemical-intensive steps in textile production, and export brands increasingly require their Asian suppliers to cut wastewater and hazardous chemicals. Vietnam's textile hubs face tightening discharge standards and water stress, which raises interest in dry dyeing technologies for synthetic fabrics.
6. Other information
DyeCoo was founded in 2008; since 2026 its technology has been transferred to VDL KTI, Nijverheidsstraat 10, Mol, Belgium, and the DyeCoo brand continues as part of VDL KTI. A company-published story names CleanDye in Ho Chi Minh City as a showcase CO2 dyehouse and lists Vietnam among strategic markets.
