Enurgen DUET Solar and BESS Performance Platform

Enurgen was founded in 2022 out of research at the SUNLAB at the University of Ottawa and has an office in Ottawa, Canada. It helps owners and operators of utility-scale solar and battery storage find why plants produce less than expected and which losses are worth fixing.

Its DUET platform builds a 3D, physics-based model of each site from terrain, shading, tracker angles, irradiance, soiling and degradation, then calculates expected output at every timestamp at minutely, string-level resolution. Comparing this baseline with operational data received over OPC UA, DUET attributes losses to root causes from meter to string, ranks them by MWh and dollar impact, generates action plans and automates daily to monthly reports. It integrates with PVsyst, Power BI, Ignition, Bazefield and Power Factors and can be deployed on premise. Logos on the site include Tata Power, Scatec, Clenera and Potentia.

Owners of solar farms built during Vietnam's 2019 to 2020 boom could quantify recoverable losses before renegotiating O&M contracts. Asset managers preparing plants for sale or refinancing could use string-level loss reports as technical evidence. Developers adding battery storage could model combined solar and BESS performance against budget.

Losses are ranked by MWh and dollar impact, so O&M teams fix the most valuable problems first. In published examples, DUET found a production leak worth USD 165,000 per month within 24 hours and helped raise a 50 MW plant's performance by 2.9%. The company claims up to USD 8 million of additional revenue per 100 MW over asset life. Automated reporting replaces manual compilation of daily, weekly and monthly performance reports.

Utility-scale solar owners are shifting from simple availability monitoring to quantifying recoverable losses at string level, especially as tariffs fall and margins tighten. Vietnam's first wave of large solar farms is ageing, which makes degradation, soiling and tracker faults more material and increases demand for loss analytics that link findings to O&M action.

Enurgen was founded in 2022 as a spin-out of SUNLAB at the University of Ottawa, led by co-founders Kibby Pollak (CEO) and Christopher Valdivia (CTO), with an office in Ottawa, Ontario.
