1. Technology overview
Good Will Instrument Co., Ltd. (GW Instek) was founded in 1975 in Taiwan as the country's first professional maker of electrical test and measurement instruments, and has been listed on the Taiwan Stock Exchange since 2000. Development is based in Taiwan with a factory in Suzhou, China, and products are sold in more than 80 countries to electronics, semiconductor, EV, battery and AI server manufacturers as well as universities.
The range covers digital storage oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, DC and AC power supplies, regenerative DC sources, electronic loads, data acquisition systems, digital multimeters, LCR meters and safety testers, plus power electronics training systems. Recent launches include the GDS-3102A/3104A 1 GHz oscilloscopes with 5 GSa/s sampling, built-in AWG and Bode plot, and the DAQ-9600 modular data logger with up to 120 channels.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Oscilloscopes: GDS-3000A series up to 1 GHz with 5 GSa/s, spectrum view, AWG and Bode plot.
- Power sources: DC and AC power supplies, including RBS regenerative bidirectional DC sources up to 30 kW.
- Data acquisition: DAQ-9600 modular data logger with seven interchangeable modules.
- Multimeters: GDM-9000 series with 6.5-digit resolution and up to 10,000 readings per second.
- Component and safety test: LCR meters, electronic loads and electrical safety testers.
- Software and connectivity: OpenWave PC software, web remote control, LabVIEW drivers and LAN/USB/GPIB.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese university can equip electronics and semiconductor training labs with oscilloscopes, generators, power supplies and LCR meters. An EMS or AI server assembler can build automated test stations with programmable supplies, loads and DMMs. A battery or EV supplier can run charge and discharge tests with regenerative DC sources.
4. Benefits
Labs and factories can source oscilloscopes, power supplies, loads, meters and safety testers from one vendor with consistent software. The smart measurement portfolio is claimed to cut testing time by up to 50%. High-power regenerative DC sources and AC power sources support EV, battery and AI server testing. Quality systems include ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 27001, with a TAF-accredited instrument laboratory.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Growth in AI servers, EV power electronics and battery production is increasing demand for high-power sources, precise meters and automated data logging. Vietnam's expanding electronics assembly and semiconductor training programmes need cost-effective instruments for both production lines and university labs, a segment where Taiwanese suppliers compete strongly.
6. Other information
