1. Technology overview
Infinitum is a US motor and power electronics company based in Austin, Texas. It designs Aircore motor systems for fans and pumps in data centres, commercial and industrial buildings, aiming to cut the electricity that HVAC fans and pumps consume while reducing infrastructure and complexity.
Aircore EC+ is the latest generation of its electronically commutated motor platform, built with a different motor architecture, modular serviceable sections, hybrid ceramic bearings and an IP65 enclosure. Frames cover 1 to 15 HP at 100 to 5,040 RPM and 415 to 575 V, and larger frames can include an integrated Active Front End that suppresses harmonics at the motor for IEEE-519 compliance. The motors are sold alone or packaged as fan systems, fan arrays and pump systems, with retrofit and lifecycle services and online fan and motor selection tools.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- EC+ motor platform: new motor architecture with modular serviceable sections.
- Power range: frames from 1 to 15 HP and 100 to 5,040 RPM.
- Active Front End: optional integrated harmonic mitigation for IEEE-519 compliance.
- Rugged build: hybrid ceramic bearings, IP65 enclosure and high-resistance grounding.
- Fan and pump systems: packaged fan arrays and pump systems for HVAC and water applications.
- Selection and services: online fan and motor selection tools plus retrofit and lifecycle services.
3. Potential application
Data centre operators in Vietnam could replace computer room air handler fans with EC fan arrays to lower cooling energy. Factories and office towers could retrofit air handling units and chilled water pumps without adding harmonic filters. Food and beverage plants could upgrade process pumps and ventilation fans.
4. Benefits
Infinitum claims more than 20% energy savings versus AC induction motors and more than 10% versus standard EC motors, with efficiency held at low speeds and part load. With the Active Front End, a 10 HP example reaches 98% power factor and 1.4% current distortion, against 82% and over 40% without it, which avoids central harmonic filters. The motors are compact, at 67 to 128 lb per frame, which simplifies retrofits in existing air handlers.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Fans and pumps run most of the hours in HVAC and data centre cooling, so motor efficiency and power quality have become levers for both energy cost and grid capacity. In Vietnam, rapid growth of data centres, factories and commercial buildings, together with tight grid capacity in industrial zones, increases demand for high-efficiency motors and fan wall retrofits.
6. Other information
Infinitum lists its address in Austin, Texas. In 2026 it launched Aircore EC+ with premium features and won the 2026 E+E Leader Product of the Year, a Clean Tech Energy Solution of the Year title and the 2026 SEAL Business Sustainability Innovation Award. HVAC industry veteran Buddy Doll joined its board in May 2026, and it runs a partner program for selling Aircore EC+ fans and fan arrays.
