1. Technology overview
Kalray is a French semiconductor company founded in 2008 as a spin-off of the CEA-Leti research lab, headquartered in Montbonnot near Grenoble and listed on Euronext Growth Paris. It was formed to design data processing units (DPUs) that offload storage, networking and security tasks from general-purpose server CPUs, addressing the growing data-movement bottlenecks inside AI and cloud infrastructure.
Kalray’s product line centers on its manycore DPU chips and acceleration cards, including the Coolidge2, K200-LP, K300 and TC4 platforms built on a proprietary RISC-V-based manycore architecture, sold alongside software and custom-silicon design services. Customers span cloud and hyperscale infrastructure providers, storage OEMs and HPC system builders, with the company reporting deployments at more than 50 customers.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. Coolidge2 DPU: manycore data processing unit offloading storage, network and security workloads from server CPUs.
2. K200-LP and K300 platforms: acceleration cards for data-center storage and networking infrastructure.
3. TC4 Turbo Server: DPU-based server platform for high-throughput AI and data-infrastructure workloads.
4. RISC-V manycore architecture: proprietary compute clusters combining RISC-V cores for parallel data processing.
5. Custom silicon design services: architecture, integration and validation services for customer-specific chips.
6. Deployment scale: DPU technology deployed at more than 50 cloud, HPC and storage-infrastructure customers.
