1. Technology overview
Nabto is a Danish IoT connectivity company founded in 2009 and headquartered in Aarhus, Denmark. It provides peer-to-peer connectivity for embedded devices and cameras, addressing the latency, cost, and privacy drawbacks of routing every device command through a central cloud server.
The Nabto Edge platform lets client applications establish direct, encrypted connections to devices for real-time control, CoAP messaging, data streaming, and TCP tunneling, while Nabto WebRTC adds low-latency audio and video streaming with global signaling and TURN servers. Device manufacturers such as STEINEL and SOREL embed Nabto’s SDKs into smart cameras and thermostats to give end users direct, cloud-independent access to their hardware.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
1. Direct P2P connectivity: let applications control devices in real time without routing through an intermediary server.
2. Nabto WebRTC: low-latency audio and video streaming backed by global signaling and TURN infrastructure.
3. TCP tunneling: open a secure TCP tunnel to remote embedded devices.
4. CoAP messaging: lightweight command and data-stream exchange for IoT devices.
5. CRA-ready design: built to meet the security requirements of the EU Cyber Resilience Act.
6. EU hosting: allows data to be kept within the European region for compliance needs.
One platform connecting startups, corporations, research institutions, regions and investors
