1. Technology overview
Open Loyalty is a composable, API-first loyalty and gamification engine built by a team led by co-founders Cezary Olejarczyk, Karol Bzik and Kacper Cebo. It is part of OEX SA, a group of 15 companies founded in 2004 and formerly listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. It serves retailers, consumer brands, banks, insurers and sports clubs that want to run complex loyalty programmes inside their own apps and stores without being locked into a fixed front end.
The headless engine handles points, tiers, challenges, streaks, badges, leaderboards, referrals, rewards catalogues and games such as fortune wheels, while web, mobile and POS systems read and write loyalty data through a REST API with 120 ms average response time. It can run as cloud SaaS on AWS or on-premise, and connects to e-commerce platforms, CRMs, CDPs and marketing automation tools such as Braze. AI Labs adds AI image verification and an open-source MCP server for AI agents. Clients include Heineken, Aldo, Intersport, BAT, Henkel and Prudential Vietnam.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Points and tiers: Configures earning rules, tier levels and automatic point reversals on returns.
- Gamification: Offers challenges, streaks, badges, leaderboards and fortune wheels.
- Rewards and referrals: Manages reward catalogues, partner rewards and referral programmes.
- Headless API: Connects web, mobile and POS through a REST API.
- Flexible hosting: Runs as cloud SaaS on AWS or on-premise.
- AI tooling: Provides AI image verification and an open-source MCP server for AI agents.
3. Potential application
An insurer or bank in Vietnam can run an on-premise loyalty programme that rewards premiums, birthdays and anniversaries with partner gifts. A sports retailer can add challenges and leaderboards to its app to raise visit frequency. A beverage brand can run gamified promotions such as fortune wheels across retail partners.
4. Benefits
Brands can design loyalty mechanics beyond simple points, including challenges, badges and games that raise engagement. The headless API lets the same programme run consistently on web, app and POS, and on-premise deployment suits banks and insurers with legacy systems. The company reports more than 400 loyalty programmes launched, about 1 billion loyalty events a month and a 99.99% uptime SLA.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Loyalty programmes are shifting from transactional points toward gamified, experience-based engagement that rewards behaviour as well as spend. Enterprises with composable commerce stacks prefer headless loyalty engines they can plug into existing apps and POS. In Vietnam, insurers, banks and retailers are building their own member programmes, as shown by Prudential Vietnam's PRUrewards.
