1. Technology overview
Packetworx is a Philippine IoT company based in Pasig City, Metro Manila, that describes itself as the first and only public LoRaWAN connectivity provider in the Philippines. It helps buildings, campuses, cities, factories, farms and utilities collect sensor data over long distances at low cost, and runs an IoT technology hub, developer kits and the national IoTCon conference.
The offer has three layers. The public LoRaWAN network, packetNET, carries data from battery-powered devices over long range. The packetSERIES device line covers indoor and outdoor air quality, temperature and humidity for cold chain, ultrasonic water meters, AC energy meters via a Modbus-to-LoRaWAN interface, BLE asset and personnel tags, leak and smoke detection, and disaster sensors such as weather stations, rainfall and water level gauges. packetVIEW is a cloud dashboard with real-time views, threshold alerts, historical reports and multi-site monitoring.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Public LoRaWAN network: packetNET carries long-range, low-power sensor data across Philippine sites.
- Environmental sensors: indoor and outdoor air quality, temperature and humidity with IP65 multi-probe options.
- Utility metering: ultrasonic water meters and AC energy meters with Modbus-RTU over LoRaWAN.
- Asset and people tracking: BLE tags and packetNODE scanners bridged to LoRaWAN.
- Disaster monitoring: weather stations, rainfall and water level sensors for early warning.
- packetVIEW dashboard: real-time views, threshold alerts, historical reports and multi-site management.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese local authority can install rainfall and river level sensors for flood warnings. A facility manager can monitor air quality, temperature and leaks across office towers and hotels. A food distributor can track cold room temperature and humidity with multi-year battery sensors.
4. Benefits
Battery-powered wireless sensors avoid cabling and are designed to run more than 10 years with little maintenance. Temperature and humidity sensors are stated to last up to 9 years on replaceable batteries. One provider supplies network, devices and dashboard, reducing integration work. Multi-site dashboards let facility teams watch many buildings from one place.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Typhoon-exposed countries in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines and Vietnam, need low-cost sensor networks for weather, flood and water level warnings. At the same time, building owners and utilities want to meter energy and water and track assets without rewiring, which favours long-range, battery-powered LoRaWAN devices.
6. Other information
Packetworx is headquartered at the iSquare Building, 15 Meralco Avenue, Pasig City, which also hosts its IoT Technology Hub. It organises the IoTCon conference in the Philippines, presented with DICT at a LoRa Alliance event in Munich in 2024, and shows testimonials from Aboitiz Equity Ventures and CBRE Philippines.
