1. Technology overview

Switch Automation was founded in Australia in 2012 and now has its headquarters in Denver, United States, with an office in Sydney. It helps owners and facilities teams whose building data is trapped in disconnected BMS platforms, meters, sensors and enterprise systems, so that they can improve operations and reduce energy use across large portfolios.

The Switch platform connects building and enterprise systems, normalises and semantically models the data, adds asset relationships and historical baselines, and provides an AI-ready foundation for analytics and automation. Its Energy and Sustainability Intelligence solution automates utility data collection, integrates meters and sub-meters, validates and normalises units and currencies, benchmarks buildings and flags risks to targets before reporting deadlines. Other solutions cover operational intelligence, centralised command and control and portfolio intelligence for banks, offices, healthcare, retail, education and data centres.

2. Highlighted features & specifications

  • System connectivity: integrates BMS, meters, sensors and enterprise systems into one platform.
  • Data normalisation: structured, semantically modelled data with asset relationships and historical baselines.
  • Energy and sustainability intelligence: automated utility data, validation, benchmarking and ESG reporting support.
  • Operational intelligence: detects abnormal consumption and equipment driving energy waste.
  • Centralised command and control: remote monitoring, control and automation across many sites.
  • AI-ready foundation: supports machine learning, write-back automation and predictive operations.

3. Potential application

Vietnamese banks with large branch and office networks can consolidate utility bills and building data to benchmark energy use and support ESG reports. Retail and supermarket chains can detect abnormal consumption across stores. Hospital groups and universities can centralise monitoring and control of building systems across campuses.

4. Benefits

Fifth Third Bank approached 25% average monthly energy savings using portfolio benchmarking, and a shopping centre case reports 12.6% lower energy costs. Automated, validated utility data replaces spreadsheets and reduces audit effort, while continuous monitoring shows when energy targets are at risk early enough to act. The platform already supports more than 6,500 buildings and 200 million square feet.

6. Other information

Founded in Australia in 2012; headquartered in Denver with an office in Sydney. The platform covers more than 6,500 buildings, including over 2,100 financial services buildings, in 15+ countries. Formed a strategic alliance with Metrikus in 2024, offers an Intel Market Ready Solution and in April 2026 published research with Berkeley Lab.
