1. Technology overview

TriEye Ltd. develops short-wave infrared (SWIR) sensing built on standard CMOS processes, aiming to make SWIR imaging affordable for mass-market products. SWIR light lets cameras see through haze, dust and glare and distinguish materials that look identical in visible light, but it has traditionally required expensive InGaAs sensors.

Its Raven family starts with the TES200, a back-illuminated 2/3-inch, 1.3 MP SWIR image sensor covering 700 to 1650 nm with a global shutter and up to 180 fps. The SEDAR platform combines HD SWIR imaging with 3D depth sensing, and the Ovi development kit supports evaluation. Target markets are ADAS and autonomous vehicles, industrial machine vision, robotics and biometrics, with partners including LITEON, HLJ, Vertilas, Toshiba Teli and DENSO.

2. Highlighted features & specifications

  • TES200 sensor: 1236x960 back-illuminated CMOS SWIR sensor covering 700 to 1650 nm.
  • Global shutter: up to 180 fps at 8-bit and 120 fps at 12-bit full resolution.
  • Flexible readout: ROI windowing, binning, external frame sync and up to 8 GPIO triggers.
  • SEDAR platform: combines HD SWIR imaging and 3D depth sensing in all visibility conditions.
  • Ovi development kit: evaluation kit for building SWIR camera prototypes.
  • Illumination ecosystem: reference designs with LITEON, HLJ and Vertilas VCSEL lasers.

3. Potential application

Food and agricultural processors in Vietnam can use SWIR cameras to detect moisture, bruising or foreign material on sorting lines. Electronics and solar module factories can inspect silicon wafers and solder joints through layers opaque to visible light. Recycling plants can separate plastics by material signature.

4. Benefits

CMOS manufacturing brings SWIR imaging closer to visible-camera cost, opening it to industrial and consumer volumes. The TES200 reaches about 60% quantum efficiency at 1245 nm and above 50% from 850 to 1450 nm, with 7 µm pixels and a 440,000 e- full well. Global shutter and up to 120 fps at 12-bit full resolution suit fast inspection and robotics. Pairing with eye-safe 1135 nm VCSEL illumination from LITEON supports active imaging designs.

6. Other information

TriEye Ltd. is described as an Israeli company in headlines on its news page; CEO and co-founder Avi Bakal. Raised a 74 million USD round in 2021; investors include Intel Capital and Porsche. Opened a Tokyo office in 2021 led by former Sony and Lattice executives. Partnered with LITEON in 2025 and earlier with DENSO, Hitachi Astemo, Toshiba Teli and Tower Semiconductor.
