1. Technology overview
PT Xurya Daya Indonesia is an Indonesian renewable energy company that rents rooftop solar power plants to businesses. It is a certified B Corp and holds ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications. Its customers are manufacturers in food and beverage, consumer goods, agriculture, automotive, steel, building materials and textiles, as well as cold storage operators, hotels and shopping centres.
Xurya offers a complete solar package: a zero upfront cost financing option, engineering design, installation, and operation and maintenance, plus hybrid off-grid solar systems for sites without reliable grid supply. Customers access their systems through a customer login. By the end of 2021 the company operated 57 rooftop plants across Java, Sumatra and Sulawesi, with 38 more under construction.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Zero upfront cost: financing that lets businesses rent rooftop solar plants without capital outlay.
- Engineering design: system design tailored to each roof and load profile.
- Installation: construction of rooftop plants at factories and commercial buildings.
- Operation and maintenance: long-term upkeep of installed systems.
- Hybrid off-grid systems: solar combined with other sources for sites without stable grid power.
- Customer portal: online login for customers to access their systems.
3. Potential application
Food and consumer goods factories can rent a rooftop plant to lower daytime electricity costs. Cold storage warehouses with large roofs and steady loads can offset cooling consumption. Remote processing sites can use hybrid off-grid systems to reduce diesel use.
4. Benefits
Businesses can switch to solar with zero upfront cost by renting the rooftop plant. Design, installation and long-term operation and maintenance come from one provider. Hybrid off-grid systems serve remote sites. ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 certifications cover quality, environmental and safety management.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Indonesia has large rooftop solar potential but low installed capacity, and manufacturers across Southeast Asia face decarbonisation demands from buyers. Rental and zero-capex models are becoming the main way factories in the region, including in Vietnam, adopt rooftop solar.
