1. Technology overview
Celonis was founded in 2011 in Germany to bring process mining from academia into the boardroom. It now has more than 3,000 employees, offices in Munich, New York, Madrid and over a dozen other cities, and a platform used by more than 1,400 companies to see how their processes actually run across ERP, CRM and other systems.
The Process Intelligence Platform builds a digital twin of operations from system event data and desktop activity (task mining), using object-centric process mining to find delays, rework and lost value. On top of this the Orchestration Engine coordinates AI agents, people and existing automations, while the Process Intelligence API and MCP server feed process context to agents built on Microsoft Copilot Studio, Amazon Bedrock or Salesforce Agentforce. Solution suites cover finance, shared services, supply chain and IT modernization.
2. Highlighted features & specifications
- Process mining: reconstructs end-to-end processes from ERP and CRM event logs.
- Task mining: links desktop user actions to business processes with AI-driven task discovery.
- Object-centric analysis: Performance Spectrum and Instance Explorer show bottlenecks across related objects.
- Orchestration Engine: coordinates AI agents, people and systems within a governed workflow.
- Process Intelligence MCP server and API: supplies process context to third-party AI agents.
- Solution suites: prebuilt content for finance, shared services, supply chain and IT modernization.
3. Potential application
A Vietnamese bank can map its loan origination process to find where applications stall before automating them. A manufacturer running SAP can analyze procure-to-pay to cut late payments and missed discounts. A retailer can trace order-to-cash delays across warehouses and channels.
4. Benefits
Gives management an objective, data-based view of how order-to-cash, procure-to-pay and other processes really run, instead of relying on workshops. Pinpoints where to apply RPA or AI agents first and measures the return. Over 60 pre-built objects and AI assistants for data extraction and modeling shorten setup. Zero-copy integration with Databricks and Microsoft avoids duplicating data.
5. Market trends & opportunities
Enterprises rolling out RPA and AI agents are learning that automating a poorly understood process rarely pays off, so process intelligence is becoming the first step of automation programs. Banks, insurers and manufacturers in Southeast Asia that run SAP or Oracle and are planning ERP migrations are a natural fit.
6. Other information
Founded in 2011; headquartered in Munich and New York with more than 20 offices worldwide and 3,000+ employees. Named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Twin of an Organization Platforms and in the Forrester Wave for Process Intelligence Software (Q3 2025); No. 12 on the Forbes 2025 Cloud 100.
